Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements requirements, procedures and techniques for safe, effective operation of raw material feed systems including:

performing pre-star checks

delivering raw materials

identifying and reporting faults and variances

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the raw material feed operation system that meets all of the required outcomes including:

using a range of communications techniques and equipment to convey information to others

maintaining written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating to confirm work requirements

demonstrates completion of the raw material feed operation systems that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

conducting visual and physical inspection of mobile equipment and plant before operations

operating mobile and fixed equipment efficiently

emptying conveyor belts prior to stopping

removing tramp metals from materials to prevent damage to equipment and conveyors

conveying materials to bunkers minimising spillage


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of operating raw material feed systems through:

apply legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

WHS, site safety and emergency requirements and procedures

environmental issues

equipment safety requirements

diagnosing faults, reporting defects and identifying repair requirements

risk assessment and management

statutory compliance

reclaiming materials

storing materials

communicating within work group

complying with operating procedures

complying with quality procedures

applying reclaiming operation

identifying tramp metal detection and removal

applying conveyor belt procedures
